Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to bring anything to the classes?
A: Materials! If you are taking the 'Learn To' course, I suggest picking up some plain 8-ply or 10-ply yarn in a light colour (Spotlight's 'Marvel' or 'Marvel Soft' is ideal), and a 4.5mm or 5mm crochet hook. I use imported Japanese Takumi Clover Soft-Touch hooks, as I find them to be the most comfortable, but as a beginner you don't need to go there straight away. I would recommend picking up a metal-tipped or full metal hook (plastic and bamboo varieties tend to be 'sticky' and not ideal for beginners).
Q: Where are classes held?
A: As the classes are held in my own home in Fig Tree Pocket, I don't like to publish too many details on the internet - please contact me for details.
Q: How many people in a class?
A: There are are no minimum numbers - two people can have as much fun crocheting together as twenty-two can! However, in the interests of meeting everyone's needs, the classes will be capped at eight participants, with additional classes added to the schedule if required.
Q: What if I've crocheted before, and I'm just a bit rusty?
A: At the moment, I am not running 'intermediate' classes, only intermediate-level project workshops (see 'Classes' page for more info). Depending on how much brushing-up you feel you need to do, I would encourage you to pop into one of the beginner classes (see the 'Classes' page for a schedule), or contact me for a one-on-one session to target your specific needs.
